The court ordered the police to release and pay Nnamdi Kanu 50 million to a supporter of Nnamdi Kanu

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday ordered the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, to release Mazi Suleiman Onigbol, a supporter of the indigenous leader of Biafra, Nnamdi Kano.

Judge ZB Abubakar, who issued the order on Tuesday, also awarded NK 50 million as “compensatory and exemplary damages” on the Kanu supporter.

According to a statement by Ifene Ejiofor, Kanu’s lawyer and IPOB, the court also ordered the police to issue an apology to Solomon Onigpol in national newspapers.

He said: “While issuing the judgment in Case No.: FHC/ABJ/CS/137/2022, we filed on behalf of Suleiman Onigbul, the court directed the Inspector General of Police, IGP to unconditionally release Mazy Onigbul from custody immediately. .

“The court also awarded N50 million only in favor of Suleiman Onigbuli as compensatory and exemplary damages.

“The court also ordered the Inspector General of Police to make a public apology to Mazi Suleiman in a national newspaper.”
