The former CAN chief has passed away in Akwa Ibom

Former President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Oron Branch, Akwa Ibom State, Senior Apostle Tom Itim has passed away.

The messenger, who was the founder and general supervisor of Power Tower Mission International, was said to have passed away after a short illness.

This came in a statement signed by the church’s board secretary Rev. Innocent Basi and made available to reporters in Oyo on Thursday.

The deceased is the older brother of former National Assembly member R. presence. Bassey Etim (aka Bafil) and two-term CAN president in his district.

It has been gathered that the former CAN president until his death was known to share church tithes and give to physically challenged people at the end of a church service, which earned him the position of senior pastor of the Combined State Association of Persons with Disabilities.

It has also been gathered that apart from his persistence in preaching the gospel, he was known to live a life of philanthropy and humanitarian service.

The statement said that the funeral ceremony will be held on December 23, 2022 in the city of Prayer Tower, Prayer Tower Street, opposite Dakada Al Fakher Real Estate, along Airport Road, Ibiaco Iset by 10 am.

The statement is in parts, ‘The late Tom Etim was a former President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Oron Chapter, where he served two consecutive terms.

“His death has left us, the family, the Christian Association of Nigeria, and indeed the entire public with a tremendous sense of loss. Surely this is God’s will and a truly glorious Exodus.”

“At the grassroots level, great apostle Tom Etim has made a tremendous impact in reaching his people by preaching the undiluted message of Christ and creating impactful life programs aimed at uplifting people and thus improving the economic fortunes of his community.

The deceased was also Chair of the Organization of African Established Churches, Oron Chapter, Government Welfare Officer of the organization; Chair of the Board of Trustees of Nigerian Christian Youth in Politics; Chaplain to National Women in Agriculture and Environmental Protection; Chaplain to the Transparency and Accountability Center and member of the Nigerian Christian American Peace Movement; Russell Weldon Christian, USA.”
