The IGP posts three CPs for Imo elections
Less than two days before the country’s presidential and National Assembly elections, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has agreed to send three Police Commissioners to Imo State.
The new CPs are Banji Ogunrinde CP Imo East Zone with phone number 08030790087, CP Chris Aimionowane CP Imo West Zone, 08033208267 and CP Alex Wannang, Imo North
A statement from the Imo Command spokesperson, ASP Henry, revealed that they have been deployed to Imo State to provide heightened water security before, during and after the 2023 election.
The statement read: “In order to ensure adequate security before, during and after the elections in every nook and cranny of the country, the Swahili have resumed their duties and developed strategies based on the security structure already in place.
“The participating parties charged with the electoral duties of the state have promised the respected citizens of Imo State and all political actors complete impartiality and equality of play as they carry out their civic obligations in the forthcoming Presidential elections, National Assembly and State Assembly, respectively.
The newly deployed military leaders also advised the destabilizing agents to reconsider their plans because the officers and soldiers were well prepared to deal with any recalcitrant elements.
“This posting aims to ensure that nothing is overlooked in creating a law-binding conducive environment for citizens of Imo State to exercise their right to vote and hold general elections in 2023 free from political bullying and other threats before, during and after the elections.
