The Independent National Electoral Commission declares Kwankwaso the winner of the presidential elections in Kano

Rabio Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigerian People’s Party, won the just concluded presidential elections in Kano State with the highest number of votes of 997,279.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the Congress Progressive Party came second with 517,341 votes, while Atiku Abubakar of the PDP got 131,716 votes.

The official in charge of INEC, Professor Lawan Suleiman Belbeis, who announced the results, said they were compiled from the 44 local government districts of Kano.

He praised the state’s politicians for largely maintaining decency and maturity while conducting elections, though he acknowledged the violence in Takai and a few other places.
