Taraba State Police Commissioner Abimbola Sokoya reassured the people of the state once again of tight water security during and after this Christmas.

It was announced that the command deployed no less than 5,000 police.

Speaking through Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Usman Abdullah, over the weekend, in Jalingo, the state capital, the commissioner said he has directed his deputy on operations to ensure people celebrate Christmas without any form of glitch.

Among the other measures outlined by the leadership to prevent a breakdown of law and order during and after the ceremony, the commissioner said, include issuing a secular law for all divisions of the district to protect centers of worship.

According to him, “the laity have already been dispatched to all district divisions throughout the state in order to ensure that adequate security is provided in churches and other places for a successful ceremony.”

He said the leadership has banned the use of improvised explosive devices and other explosive devices across the states.

Till the time of submission of this report, heavily armed policemen were seen carrying out mounting surveillance around some strategic places in and around Jalingo City.
