The US Mission has expanded the eligibility period for nonimmigrant visa renewals from 24 to 48 months.
The public affairs division of the US mission announced the extension on Wednesday.
The information was released 48 hours after the mission started renewing student visa without interview for Nigerian students.
Friday’s statement said that applicants whose visas expired in the last 48 months or will expire in the next three months are eligible to not appear at the embassy.
She hinted that thousands of visa renewal appointments will be opened to help applicants who want to renew their visas.
Eligible applicants must have applied for a B1/B2, F, M, or J (academic only) or H, L, or C1/D (combined only) visa.
Criteria: Previous visa issued in Nigeria; The previous visa is of the same classification as the current application; The previous visa is with full validity, multiple entry visas.
Other: previous visas that have expired within the last 48 months or will expire three months after the date of application; Applicants have passports covering the entire period since receiving the previous and last visa.
Also, applicants must not have been arrested or convicted in America; These people never worked without permission or stayed outside the time permitted in the United States
