The All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Paula Tinubu, has denied meeting US President, Joe Biden.
A picture of a presidential candidate for the General People’s Congress party with Biden in the United States went viral on social media.
But Tinubu said the viral photo of him meeting Biden was fake and should be ignored.
Followers of the Labor Party, LP, accused presidential candidate Peter Obi of distributing the photo.
Speaking through Bayo Onanuga, APC PCC’s director of media and publicity, Tinubu said Obi’s followers have taken the viral photos.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria, Onanuga said: “A viral image showing Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and US President Joe Biden in talks at the White House is the latest in a series of misinformation that has been stamped out by the political opposition.
“We cannot just understand the purpose of the mischief and falsehood that has sprung from rabid followers of Peter Opie, Labor’s presidential candidate.
The apparently photoshopped image surfaced on Tuesday night, following the news that Asiwaju will be embarking on an overseas trip this weekend.
Onanoga said Tinubu was in Abuja, not in the United States.
But he confirmed that the General People’s Congress candidate is scheduled to travel to the United States at the end of the week.
He said Tinubu had been billed to travel to Bayelsa to participate in Thursday’s rally.
“His first port of call will be Chatham House in London, where he will talk about his business plan for Nigeria,” he said.
