Tinubu triumphs: INEC attempts to destroy evidence of forgery, preventing Atiku from obtaining proof – PDP
On Tuesday, the People’s Democratic Party accused the Independent National Election Commission of trying to destroy and erase alleged evidence of fraud in last Saturday’s presidential elections.
PDP accused INEC of attempting to destroy evidence in an attempt to prevent it from obtaining evidence of reconfiguration of BVAS machines.
Dipo Olugunagba, a former ruling party spokesperson, said the INEC action was aimed at thwarting Nigerians’ desire to seek compensation through the court.
“We have called on you to alert Nigerians and the international community to the brutal move by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to destroy and erase evidence of its intolerable fraud of the February 25, 2023 presidential election,” Olugonaba told a news conference.
“Late yesterday at 10:10 p.m. the Independent Electoral Commission in a desperate move to prevent our party and candidate from obtaining the necessary evidence as ordered by the Court, submitted a request to be allowed to reconfigure the BVAS machines and scan relevant information that our party and candidate are requesting. Pursue our case in the Presidential Election Court.
“This reprehensible act by the Independent National Electoral Commission to thwart the desire of Nigerians to seek redress through court is a clear recipe for crisis and a deliberate design by the Commission to impede our democracy and create chaos in the country.
“Nigerians can recall how the Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmud Yakubu, oversaw the manipulation of the results of the presidential election and promptly declared the winner despite widespread outcry and complaints of numerous evidences of malpractice and violation of several provisions of the election law., 2022 By INEC and its officials.
“The Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) bypassed all the steps and procedures stipulated in the 2022 Elections Law to announce the results, including announcing and announcing only the results that were transmitted directly from the polling units to the INEC server/website and reviewing the results in case of disputes and objections to the validity of and consistency of the combined outcome.”
