Former Liverpool star John Barnes has urged Manchester United to replace Cristiano Ronaldo with World Cup star Cody Gakow.
According to Barnes, it would make sense for Man United to sign Jakopo as Ronaldo’s replacement at Stamford Bridge.
Gakpo has been impressive for the Netherlands during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The PSV star scored three goals from five matches to help his country reach the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo is currently a free agent after Man United terminated his contract last month.
“I think a Gakpo move would make sense for Manchester United,” Barnes told BonusCodeBets.
“Ronaldo left and they didn’t exactly pin their hat on Anthony Martial to say he would be their main number 9. They are looking for a centre-forward because Marcus Rashford likes to play wide.
“Gakpo will get more playing time at Manchester United than he will at Liverpool and he will also suit them more. He is a goal threat who works hard for the team.”
