Transfer: Super Eagles goalkeeper, Okoye is open to leaving Watford on loan

Nigeria goalkeeper Madoka Okoye has admitted he is ready to leave Sky Bet Championship side Watford on loan in January.

Okoye linked up with Hornets from Eredivisie club, Sparta Rotterdam in the summer.

The 23-year-old has yet to make a single appearance for London in the tournament.

The shot stopper made just one appearance for Watford in their Carabao Cup defeat by MK Dons.

There are reports that Okoye could be set to return to the Eredivisie on loan when the transfer window reopens next month.

The former Fortuna Dusseldorf goalkeeper is enjoying a solid reputation in the Netherlands after an impressive two-year spell with Sparta Rotterdam.

“We’ll see what happens. My contract runs until 2027, so anything is possible. Maybe I will be rented, or not, I don’t know yet,” Okoye told Voetbal Primeur.

Eredivisie? Yeah, that sounds like something to me. The clubs in the Netherlands know me well from Sparta and know what they can do with me. We’ll see.

“At the moment I am fully focused on Watford and the games we have to play.”
