Transfer: The Nigerian midfielder has signed a contract extension with Bundesliga 2
Former Flying Eagles midfielder, Afeez Aremu, has signed a new long-term contract with Bundesliga 2 club FC St. Pauli.
Aremu’s previous contract was set to expire next summer.
The club have now moved to ward off interest in the player by ensuring he has penned a new deal.
The 23-year-old joined the boys at Brown from Norwegian First Division club Ik Start in 2020.
Aremo made 48 league appearances for Fabian Hurtzler’s side.
This season, he made twelve competitive appearances, nine of them starting.
The club’s sporting director Andreas Bornemann is delighted to see the former Kwara United player extending his stay at the club.
“We are delighted to have reached an early agreement with Afeez to continue our association,” Bornemann told the club’s official website.
“On his arrival in Hamburg he took some time to get used to the new league and the football we want to play, but he has made great strides in his development since then and is an important part of our future plans.”
