Oluwagbemiro Ogunseyi, a former son-in-law of Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ooni of Ife, was brought before the Ondo State Magistrates Court on Tuesday on charges of forgery and illegal transfer of N26 million.
Ogunsi, the brother of Naomi, the ex-wife of the Evie king, allegedly committed the crime in September 2019. He has since been charged with three counts of forgery and criminal diversion.
It was alleged that he altered the Atebiti Faye family’s receipt.
Sections 467 and 390(8)(b) of the Ondo State Penal Code 2006. 37, vol. 1, Laws, provide penalties for crimes.
When the charges were read to him, Ogunsi pleaded not guilty
According to the charges, “that you, Ogunsi Akinfoularin, fraudulently remit N26 million from the proceeds of the sale of plots of land belonging to Atibuti Oni in Akure, Ondo State.”
DSP Osoobu Itunu, the prosecuting attorney, stated that the case was ready to open because every witness was ready to testify.
Presiding Judge Yemi Fasnmi adjourned the case to January 9, 2023.
