US Vice President Harris announced a $100 million investment in the Young African Leaders Initiative

The Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, announced plans to work with Congress to fund an additional government investment of more than $100 million in the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI).

According to a statement on Friday from the US Consulate General, Public Affairs Division, in Lagos, Kamala made the revelation at the Africa-American Leaders Summit, Washington.

He stated that USAID will establish the Young African Leaders Exchange, the first pan-African virtual platform that will enable the diaspora and other key stakeholders to connect directly with approximately 28,000 YALI alumni from 49 sub-Saharan countries since YALI launched in 2010.”

The funds will advance trade relations between the United States and Africa, particularly in digital connectivity, gender equality, and the empowerment of women and youth.
