Governor Samuel Ortom assured the people of Benue South County in the Senate that the continuation of the PDP administration, and the DPP administration in the state will improve conditions for the state.
The governor spoke on Monday, December 5, 2022 at a DPP campaign flag hoist in Benue South Senate just as Senator Appa Moro dismissed comments attributed to him regarding the PDP crises at the national level.
The campaign, which was held in the Pavilion Square of the Ojo Local Government Area, attracted thousands of party supporters from the nine local government areas of the district.
Governor Ortom commended the people of Benue South for their commitment to the party and promised that those elected to the party platform will continue to do their best to bring about development in the state.
“You’ve done a good job for us, you’ve given us support and the only thing, we can repay you is to make sure we work to ensure that Benue State is better and that’s what we’re doing.”
The governor expressed satisfaction with the patriotism and commitment to the PDP by Benue South and asserted that the party was one indivisible platform in the state that was committed to winning all of its elections.
In his words, “Let me tell you, the PDP is serious business in Benue State. By the grace of God we will win all our elections. We are one indivisible body committed to the victory of our party, the People’s Democratic Party, because the APC has failed this nation,” said Governor Ortom to his massed supporters.
He reaffirmed that despite the challenges and scarcity of funds, his administration remains committed to fulfilling its obligations to the people.
A ruler who denounced the marginalization of the state despite his administration’s commitment to development ordered the people to vote for HDP candidates whom he indicated were committed to the common good of the state.
In his speech, Senator representing Benue South Senatorial Province, Comrade Abba Moro, who is seeking re-election as a PDP candidate in the Senate while recounting his accomplishments, dismissed media reports on crises in the DPP at the national level attributed to him.
“I think the governor as the party leader, he has the ability to resolve issues within the party in Benue State and even as a leader in the G-5, he has the ability along with his colleagues to ensure that the right thing is done and all the crisis parties in the PDP are doing what it takes to make sure We are going into the year 2023 as the united forces of the PDP to win the elections.
According to Senator Moro, “I will never assume the duty of a party leader in Benue State and have refrained from commenting on the crisis in the PDP, believing that our leaders know the right thing to do at the right time,” he said.
He said he made no comments, directly or indirectly, during the opening of his campaign board as he was credited.
In his words, “I want to say here, whatever happens at the national level is up to those who play national politics to solve this issue. And if they don’t solve it, I will call you and inform you and ask you in which direction we are going.”
Senator Moro revealed that he sponsored 13 bills in the Senate, some of which include, a bill challenging the vote to create the North Central Development Commission, power rotation between political blocs, and autonomy for local government among others.
Senator representing Benue North-East, Dr. Gabriel Suswam in his kind message said he had come to offer solidarity to Senator Moro whom he described as “an outstanding son of District C, a popular politician and a voice that cannot be ignored in the Senate and politics of Nigeria”.
Lieutenant Governor, State PDP Candidate Sir John Njebede In a brief note on behalf of the DPP Candidate Eng. Titus Oba noted that the PDP was sending a balanced team to the National Assembly and tasked people to collect their Permanent Voters Card, PVs and vote en masse to PDP candidates at the polls.
Presenting party flags to party candidates in the region, Acting Head of State of the PDP Hon Isaac Mpho said that “the PDP is an inclusive political platform” and instructed the candidates to carry everyone in their election campaigns.
Earlier, Benue South Senatorial Campaigns Director, Dr. Ilia Adakoli stated that with Senator Moro’s track record in the areas of health, infrastructure and education, the people of the district are ready to be re-elected and vote for all PDP candidates.
The chair of the event, Elder Christopher Abah and Shirlady, Mrs. Ine Edach, in their separate remarks, pledged their readiness to garner support for all DPP candidates.
