We will vote on fairness and fairness on February 25th – told Makinde Tinubu in Ibadan
The presidential candidate of the ruling Progressive Congress Party, Bola Tinubu, visited Governor of Oyo State Sei Makinde on Thursday.
Tinubu was received by Makinde at his office in Ibadan, the state capital.
Makindi, who was elected on the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, in 2019, and is seeking another term, is one of the PDP’s G5 governors who failed to declare open support for Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate.
Many residents were surprised when the APC candidate stormed into Ibadan to visit Makindi, who is a governor on the PDP platform.
Among the Tinubu men who accompanied him to visit Makinde were the former Governor of Osun State, President Bessi Akande, Minister of Youth and Sports Development Sunday Dare and Governor Dabo Abiodun of Ogun State. The former rulers were Ekiti and Osun, respectively, and Kayode Faemi and Gbowega Oyetola were in Tinubu’s retinue.
While speaking, Tinubu said he was in Oyo State to seek Makende’s endorsement ahead of the February 25 presidential elections.
In his reply, Makindi said he would choose the country’s unity, fairness and fairness over politics.
Therefore, he urged Tinubu to continue his campaign.
He added that the people of the state will vote for fairness and equity on February 25.
