World Cup: France lodged a complaint with FIFA over Griezmann’s disallowed goal in the defeat of Tunisia

France has decided to file a complaint with FIFA, after the equalizer was disallowed at the last moments by Antoine Griezmann, the French Federation confirmed on Wednesday.

Referee Michael Conger scored the goal after reviewing the video assistant referee after the final whistle of the 2022 World Cup match against Tunisia.

Griezmann hit the net in the eighth minute of stoppage time, but the goal was ruled out due to the offside of the Atletico Madrid striker.

Aurelien Choameni sent the ball into the penalty area and the Tunisian defender deflected it into the path of Griezmann, who was in place at that point. However, the effort was not allowed and Tunisia won the match 1-0.

However, the FFF feels that Conger and the VAR system committed a technical error.

“We are writing a complaint after Antoine Griezmann’s goal was, in our opinion, wrongly disallowed.

“This complaint must be submitted within 24 hours after the final whistle,” the federation said in a statement.

The French Football Federation wants FIFA to reinstate the goal and France’s 1-1 draw with Tunisia, although this does not change the final positions or which countries qualify for the knockout stages.
