Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdal has claimed teammate Bukayo Saka will not shy away from penalties after missing out on the Euro 2020 final.
Ramsdale and Saka will be absent in Qatar with the Three Lions as the 2022 FIFA World Cup kicks off on Sunday.
Saka played a key role for England during Euro 2020, helping Gareth Southgate’s men reach the final.
However, they lost to Italy on penalties, with Saka, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford all missing penalties.
“definitely [Saka would step up again]Ramsdale told reporters on Friday ahead of England’s World Cup opener against Iran on Monday. “I think he’s been four since that day.
“I think he realized it was something that probably should have happened to him (missing the penalty kick in the Euro 2020 final).
“He’s not ashamed of it for his personality type.
“He knows the feeling now. Hopefully, next time he steps up, he’ll do what he does for Arsenal and put it in the net.”
