Former Manchester City star Nigel de Jong has paid tribute to England midfielder Jude Bellingham.
De Jong said Bellingham is smart, smart and ready for the Premier League.
Bellingham, who currently plays for Borussia Dortmund, scored England’s first goal in their 6-2 win over Iran on Monday.
He is expected to leave Dortmund in the summer, with Manchester City, Liverpool, Real Madrid and other major European clubs interested in signing the 19-year-old.
“I suspect [he is ready for the Premier League] So, but I’d prefer him to go to Bayern Munich because that’s the extra step in developing a player, in terms of structure but also playing for the big trophies,” de Jong told ITV.
He added: “When it comes to his humility but also because of his intelligence and intelligence, knowing what it takes to be the best midfielder in the world.
“And I think it’s very likely [in Europe] – Especially after the World Cup! It will be most interesting.”
