World boxing champion Canelo Alvarez has slammed Lionel Messi, accusing him of insulting Mexico during Argentina’s 2-0 win on Sunday.
After losing their match against Saudi Arabia, the South American giants got back to their winning ways with a win over Mexico.
Messi opened the scoring in the second half, and Enzo Fernandez sealed a 2-0 victory to put Argentina into second place in Group C.
After the victory, the Argentine players filmed themselves celebrating in the dressing room.
Canelo, a multiple world boxing champion from Mexico, took exception to Messi’s behavior after a video clip went viral on social media.
“Did you guys see Messi clean the floor with our shirt and our flag?” Canelo wrote on Twitter.
“It is better if he prays to God that I do not find him.
“Since Mexico’s jersey is on the ground, it’s already an insult.”
