France striker Kylian Mbappe has said he will not participate in the 2022 World Cup to finish as top scorer.
According to Mbappe, his main goal is to lift the World Cup.
The Paris Saint-Germain star was speaking after scoring twice in the defending champions’ victory over Poland in the last 16 on Sunday.
Mbappe now has five goals from four matches and leads the race for the Golden Boot, ahead of Argentina captain Lionel Messi and Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
But the 24-year-old said: “The only goal for me is to win the World Cup. The only thing I dream about is that.
“I came here to win the World Cup. I didn’t come here to win the Ballon d’Or or the Golden Boot. If I win it of course I’ll be happy but that’s not why I’m here. I’m here to win and I’m here to help the French national team.”
