The former Ghanaian international player, Ibrahim Ayew, insisted that the Black Stars will go out to take revenge on Uruguay and striker Luis Suarez when the two teams meet in the final match of Group H of the 2022 World Cup, on Friday evening.
Ayew said Ghana and Africa hate Suarez for what he did against the Black Stars during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Recall that Suarez prevented Ghana from qualifying for the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup with a touch on the goal line in the last minute.
The former Liverpool and Barcelona star was sent off but Asamoah Gyan missed the penalty and the West African giants were eliminated on penalties.
Ghana is seeking revenge against Uruguay after their infamous defeat by La Celeste in the quarter-finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking to The Athletic, 12 years after the incident, Ayew, who currently plays for Bruno Magpies, said he wanted Ghana to take revenge on Uruguay and Suarez.
“I thought we had won. I was a substitute, warming up behind that goal, and I ran onto the pitch to celebrate because I was sure the ball had crossed the line. I thought we did it, the first African team to reach a World Cup semi-final,” said Ayew.
He continued, “All of Ghana hates him [Luis Suarez]And all of Africa hates him. Oh yeah, we hate him. And we want revenge.”
