Zamfara State Police Command, on Tuesday, arrested two suspected arms smugglers and recovered weapons and ammunition.
This was stated by SP Mohamed Shehu, Public Relations Officer of Zamfara Police, in a statement on Tuesday
The statement explained that, following intelligence on the supply of weapons from Benue State to undisclosed criminals in Zamfara, the commanding officers moved in and arrested the suspects with live ammunition and one magazine.
According to the statement, after careful inspection of the arrested criminals, they discovered weapon ammunition, just as the suspects confessed to the crime during interrogation, saying that they had participated in several gun shops in Zamfara and other states, including neighboring countries.
On the 8th of January 2023, at approximately 2300 hours, tactical policemen arrested two (2) gun runners, one Emmanuel Emmanuel and his counterpart Nana Ibrahim along the Gusau-Wankye-Dansado road, transporting three hundred and twenty-five (325 ) rounds of live ammunition, ammo and one magazine for the AK-47.”
State Commissioner of Police, CP Kolo Yusuf urged residents to cooperate with the police, by reporting any suspected criminals.
